The JV is looking to tap into growing demand from the European drone market valued in excess of $100 billion over the next decade and will include production out of Italy and Turkey, Roberto Cingolani, CEO at Leonardo, told media in Rome.
"There are lots of interest [from a] number of countries, but these things are taking a lot of time and high-level decisions,” Turkish Aerospace Industries General Manager Mehmet Demiroglu told Breaking Defense.

Piaggio has done work as a sub-tier supplier for the F-35 program, which Turkey was kicked out of in 2019.

Analysts tell Breaking Defense that there has been a shift in how Ukraine uses its TB2 drones, as the direct result of Russia's change in air defense tactics over the course of the war.
